Alina Baltazar, PhD candidate, MSW, ACSW, LMSW, CFLE, Assistant Professor and Director of the MSW program in the Social Work Department and Director of the Center for Prevention Education at the Institute for the Prevention of Addiction at Andrews University, and psychotherapist at Psychiatric and Psychological Specialties, St. Joseph, MI. Ms. Baltazar received her BA in psychology from Andrews University, Master of Social Work from University of Michigan, and is working on a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from Michigan State University. In the area of academics, Ms. Baltazar, has worked as an adjunct faculty in social work, behavioral sciences, and family studies, and as a research scientist. Her research areas are in religiosity and parental influence on health risk behaviors, domestic violence, and mental health. She has published textbook chapters, peer reviewed journal articles, church magazine articles, and presented at church and national conferences as well as given presentations in the community on these topics. Ms. Baltazar has been a social worker for over 18 years. As a social work clinician, Ms. Baltazar has worked as a medical social worker, out-reach counselor, psychiatric social worker, domestic violence shelter director, and psychotherapist.

Larry Ulery, MA, MSA

Larry Ulery, MA, MSA, is Assistant Professor of Community Services and Director of the Andrews University Service-Learning Center. The center provides volunteer, civic engagement and service-learning opportunities for AU students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities include promotion, recruitment, placement, follow-up and evaluation related to the above opportunities. Professor Ulery, (a university teacher for 33 years) teaches a required service learning class for AU undergraduates. He has facilitated numerous health and wellness activities for business and industry, community and employee groups in his previous capacity as manager of health and wellness for Lakeland Regional Hospitals. He serves on his university and church wellness committees and has coordinated 2-3 Red Cross Blood Drives annually for the past 22 years.
