Brian D. Sharp, PhD, CCC-SLP, holds the position of assistant professor for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the School of Allied Health Professions at Loma Linda University (LLU), and chairs the committee of clinical coordinators for the school. As a licensed speech-language pathologist he has worked in all areas from birth to geriatric while specializing in swallowing and neurogenic disorders. His current research is centered on stroke prevention and rehabilitation based on the mind-body principles of psychoneuroimmunology (PNI). He is currently publishing research on the connection between stress, depression, and quality of life on stroke recovery. He has contributed to his field by serving on the board of directors for the California Speech Language and Hearing Association (CSHA) for 12 years.
