Dr. Kiti is a Pediatric Neurodevelopmental Psychologist with an extensive experience, spanning over 26 years, with high-risk infant and youth populations. She has specialized expertise in the area of pre and postnatal substance exposure and childhood trauma. Currently, she is a consultant expert on high risk 0-5 year olds who have experience trauma and/or drug endangered environments, for Children’s Network and First Five of San Bernardino County’ California. Dr. Kiti consults and provides direct service to the the four San Bernardino County SART centers (transdisciplinary 0-5 high risk clinics) and SART affiliates, as well as to Desert Mountain Special Education and Inland Empire Health Plan. Dr Kiti is the Director of Psychological Services in the Department of Pediatrics, Loma Linda University Health Care. She is the author and director of the Trauma, Loss & Compassion (TLC) bereavement support group for preschoolers which has been implemented in the San Bernardino County Preschools in California for over three years. She holds clinical and academic appointments as a Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Public Health at Loma Linda University & Children’s Hospital in California. She is an adjunct professor at the Department of Behavioral Sciences Andrews University.
Dr. Kiti was also a registered School Psychologist in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She has worked with high-risk infants and youth in a number of settings including juvenile corrections, education, community mental health and children’s hospitals. Dr Kiti has specialized expertise in the area of children ages zero to five and children/youth of all ages who have been exposed to trauma and/or drug endangered environments.
Dr. Kiti obtained her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science. She completed an internship and fellowship in High Risk Pediatrics at Henry Ford Hospital and Northwestern University. She has had a considerable academic career with professorship positions at the University of Miami, Brown University, Andrews University and Loma Linda University. Dr Kiti was awarded the Shine a Light Award (2013) from San Bernardino County and the Distinguished Service Award (2007) and the Centennial Vanguard Award for her service in ‘Wholeness’ (2006) from Loma Linda University. She has been an investigator on several NIH, Federal, State, and Private Foundation grants.
Dr. Kiti is a Board Member for the National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children (NADEC) and co-chair of the NADEC Child Assessment Resiliency and Treatment (CART) working group. She is also a member of the DEC Canada Steering Committee. She is a specialist in both research and training related to youth high-risk behavior prevention and intervention nationwide and internationally. Through her work Dr. Kiti has emphasized and facilitated moving from understanding risk to promoting resiliency via numerous presentations and training in over 40 countries and throughout the United States.
Dr. Kiti has dedicated her career to providing direct service and training to children, families, professionals, organizations and communities to enhance the physical, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual lives of children and their families in order to promote optimal and healthy living.
